Craft and Knowledge
Mounting non-European art requires more than technical skill; it demands a deep sensitivity to the cultural and ritual context of the object.
We combine an extensive understanding of non-European art history with a professional design background and time-honored woodworking techniques.
Working primarily with premium European timber, particularly fine-grained European Beech, we create structural foundations that bridge cultures, providing a sophisticated, minimalist context for your finest acquisitions.
We analyse your artwork to determine its optimal presentation. We design and visualise a custom concept that establishes the perfect positioning, angle, and height, ensuring the object is viewed exactly as intended.
Proportion & Contrast
We calculate the precise structural scale required to balance the sculpture. Our designs create a clear, elegant separation between the artwork and its support, allowing the piece to command its own space.
Harmonious Colour Matching & Finishing
Each base is carefully colour-matched to complement the artwork’s unique patina, wood species, or metal elements, ensuring it enhances rather than competes with the sculpture. Finished entirely by hand using premium, historically informed techniques, including bespoke staining, oiling, traditional varnishing, and hand-rubbed shellac tailored to the character of each piece.
Museum-Grade Conservation
We prioritise the integrity and fragility of your objects. Unless otherwise specified, our mounts are entirely non-invasive and engineered to support each piece securely without causing stress, wear, or chemical interaction with the original material. Where mechanical attachment is desired, including the use of drilled mounting points, solutions are developed in close consultation with the client and tailored to each specific object.
